L3Harris Space and Mission Systems in the greater Philadelphia region is seeking an experienced embedded Software Engineer to guide the next generation of mission-critical national security systems. The candidate should have a strong background in modern computer architecture, hardware bring-up and debugging, development of low-level embedded system-software including custom drivers, board support packages, and bootloader.

Essential Functions:
- Leading the software design and development processes including requirements analysis, specifications, design, implementation and development.
- Driving efficient processes, creating best practices for software development as well as performing code and design reviews.
- Collaborating with other software managers as well as Electrical, Systems Engineering managers, Program Chief Engineering team to ensure effective product development through optimizing engineering assignments across the development organization.
- Identifying and establishing development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance of the team.
- Providing mentorship, coaching and guidance to team members with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.
- Contributing to development on projects as required.
- Conducting performance evaluations of engineers
- Managing the recruitment interview and hiring process for additional software engineers.
- Participating in Engineering Proposal cost estimation and Basis of Estimate efforts.
- Manage matrix organization manpower allocation.
- Able to travel up to 10%
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree (A Master’s degree is desired but not required) with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function.
- Active DoD secret clearance.
- Experience with recruiting and hiring technical talent.
- Experience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.
- Experience as a Cost Account Manager utilizing EVMS, Program execution lifecycle.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience working within an Agile development environment is highly desirable. Scrum Team certification and/or experience.
- Experience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generation.
- Development experience in any of the following areas would be considered highly beneficial: Real Time embedded software development, Information Assurance, video communications, embedded interfaces (I2C, RS232, CAN, Ethernet), Safety Critical systems.
- Encryption and Authorization military standards, product certification and design patterns. BoE preparation and Risk Registry development.
- Experience with DevOps process, tools, and procedures is highly desirable.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $135,000 - $250,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
