Job Description:
The IMS Artificial Intelligence team is seeking a highly skilled AI/ML engineer with strong software development experience and experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning. This position is a developer role focused on building, deploying, and operationalizing AI/ML capabilities across the Segment. The ideal candidate will design, implement, optimize, and maintain production-grade AI/ML solutions that directly improve workflows, mission effectiveness, and employee experience.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys coding, experimenting, solving complex problems, and delivering real AI solutions end-to-end.
Ability to obtain a US Security clearance is required.
Essential Functions:
AI/ML Solution Development & Implementation
- Design, build, train, test, and deploy AI/ML models across domains such as computer vision, NLP, task optimization, and data analytics.
- Develop production-ready software components, APIs, microservices, and automation tools that integrate AI/ML into enterprise systems and workflows.
- Implement and support end-to-end ML pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
Model & Data Optimization
- Optimize models for accuracy, latency, memory footprint, and operational reliability.
- Implement data preprocessing, transformation, and quality checks to ensure consistent data flow into AI pipelines.
- Conduct model retraining, fine-tuning versioning, and performance improvement as data and mission needs evolve.
AI Infrastructure, Tools & MLOps
- Leverage AI frameworks, toolkits, and cloud/on-prem infrastructure to operationalize models at scale.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD + MLOps workflows for automated training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Ensure AI solutions meet reliability, performance, and security requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with software, data, security, and mission teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing applications and workflows.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users and collaborate to refine requirements.
- Contribute to technical documentation, design artifacts, and code reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, 9+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 7+ years.
- Proven hands-on experience developing and deploying software applications including AI/ML models in production environments.
- At least 7 years of programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, Rust, Java) and proficiency with AI/ML libraries and frameworks.
- Experience with full AI lifecycle: data preparation, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring.
- Ability to translate mission or business requirements into functional AI solutions.
- Understanding of data pipelines, distributed training, optimization techniques, and deployment environments (cloud or on-prem).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Secret or higher security clearance.
- Experience applying AI/ML in aerospace, defense, ISR, maritime, or mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG and Graph architectures.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI into enterprise software, workflows, or mission systems.
- Experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, Sagemaker, or similar.
- Strong team player, communicator, and result-driven
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $129,500 MIN - $240,000 MAX. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $112,500 MIN - $209,500 MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
