L3Harris in Bristol is our headquarters for our Maritime UK businesses which provides warship automation systems through control and simulation solutions that are in service on Albion Class Landing Platform Docks and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. More systems are being developed and delivered for Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. We have additional Maritime UK sites across Burgess Hill, Barrow-In-Furness and Portchester. Together, we are powering the Royal Navy’s adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports, harbours and offshore energy service providers.

About this scheme

This framework provides rotations through other disciplines to allow you to have a deeper understanding of a commercial business. 

Throughout, you will receive suitable training opportunities to cultivate a wide range of competencies to shape you into a well-rounded environmental, health and safety professional. 

All graduates will automatically be enrolled into the L3Harris UK chapter of the Early Careers Professionals Employee Resource Group (ERG), GIANTS (Graduate Intern, Apprentice Nurturing Training Scheme).

 

Please note, this is a 24-month contract.

 

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

 

  • Supporting, developing and implementing the business’s management systems.
  • Supporting the Senior EHS and Facilities Manager to ensure conformance to ISO14001, ISO45001 and business requirements.
  • Identifying Environmental Health and Safety training needs and develop/deliver training materials (i.e., toolbox talks).
  • Liaising with business stakeholders regarding issues around Environment and Health and Safety.
  • Working with the EHS and Facilities team to ensure compliance to EHS legislation.
  • Reviewing and improving current working practices with regards to Health and Safety.
  • Conducting and supporting risk assessments.
  • Support environmental sustainability improvements in line with L3Harris UK targets.
  • Performing internal audits across the Business Management System.
  • Coordinating and reporting on continual improvement programmes within the business.

 

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

 

Essential

  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analyses and devise suitable corrective action plans
  • Experience using a wide range of root cause analysis tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills
