The engineering technician is responsible for leading complex electro-mechanical diagnostics, repair, and return-to-service activities. The role coordinates daily technical workflow: ensures accurate job tracking in Jira, and maintains high standards across safety, quality, and compliance. Acting as the key technical interface between engineering, technicians, and customers, this position drive’s reliability, precision, and continuous improvement.

 

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Manage daily workshop operations and workflow.
  • Perform and lead complex mechanical, electrical, and electro mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and testing.
  • Act as the technical contact for customers and internal teams, managing updates and expectations.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and verify repair quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering on technical issues and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements, Lean activities, and reliability enhancements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications

 

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Security clearance (NV1) and eligibility to access ITAR/EAR information and technology
  • Cert III or IV with a Defence Technician
  • Experienced in electro‑mechanical maintenance and repair.
  • Skilled workshop leader with a hands‑on, practical approach.
  • Background in production or manufacturing environments.
  • Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities.
  • Technically proficient with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
