What the role will involve

This position is responsible for quality improvement issues related to suppliers and/or subcontractors of materials, products or services used in development or manufacturing, as well as overseeing and supporting First Article Review for the site. It also includes responsibility for quality improvement issues relating to in-house programmes.

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Analyse in-house and supplier performance and develop improvement plans for identified problem areas to drive down cost of poor quality, supplier DPPM and other non-conformance rates.
  • Use Six Sigma & Lean concepts for improvement of quality and delivery metrics both internally and in the supply base.
  • Provide training for basic quality methodologies to support supplier partnerships.
  • Support programs assessing potential new suppliers.
  • Support Supplier Development Engineers with the implementation of supplier partnership concepts with focus suppliers.
  • Review, analyse and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems, both internally and externally.
  • Perform and evaluate root cause and corrective action to correct product / process deficiencies, ensuring implementation and action effectiveness both internally and with suppliers.
  • Perform elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis, and First Articles).
  • Support Supplier Development Engineers assisting suppliers with the implementation of Zero-Defect Plans (ZDP) with critical suppliers, by assisting them to develop robust processes, performing process/product validations, and recommending internal and external improvements (process and design).
  • Support the internal review of Supplier First Article Inspections for the Brighton site.
  • Train suppliers to the latest revision of AS9102.

 

 

What you’ll bring 

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Must have AS9102 experience.
  • Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using standard RCA tools – e.g. 5Y.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Machine & Fabrication and / or electrical / electronic manufacture.
  • A degree in an engineering discipline
