L3Harris in Brighton are part of Release Systems and the Mission Avionics sector operating in the Aerospace domain. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon. Brighton designs, manufactures and tests a large portion of its release systems portfolio. This facility offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space for the development of high-performance, multi-station solutions used to launch air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions from bay, wing or fuselage stations.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Develop and optimise machining processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and throughput.
- Program, validate and refine CNC machine paths to ensure precision and repeatability.
- Design and implement jigs, fixtures and tooling to support required design tolerances.
- Collaborate with machinist to troubleshoot process issues and optimise setups.
- Ensure that the machining processes meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
- Look for continuous improvements including the introduction of new cutting tools, and automation solutions.
- Support new product introduction through proactive input to new designs.
- Monitor and analyse machining performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements for the machine shop.
- Trouble shot process issues and provide technical support to the machine shop.
- Conduct their work in a safe manner. Use PPE where appropriate.
- Support activities in the other departments as and when required.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining processes (milling and turning)
- Proficient in CNC programming and use of CAM software.
- Skilled in CAD ideally with SolidWorks and HyperMill
- Good knowledge of GD&T
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
- Have a background in new product introduction.
- Experience in working to AS9100 standards
- Experience working with ERP systems.
