Our Maritime UK business has four UK location and together we are powering the Royal Navy’s adoption of autonomous surface vehicle technology as well as delivering autonomous capability to UK ports, harbours and offshore energy service providers.
This role will lead the delivery of Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) capabilities within a complex and technically challenging programme environment.

What the role will involve
This role will support and technically lead the Astute Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) programme.
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Developing and delivering the engineering strategy required to meet programme objectives, ensuring compliance with established processes, standards and governance.
- Leading a small multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve programme outcomes across cost, quality and schedule.
- Working closely with Programme and Project Managers to identify opportunities, define technical scope and support delivery planning.
- Monitoring and reporting programme performance, proactively managing risks, issues and dependencies.
- Acting as the primary technical point of contact for customers and key stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance across multiple engineering disciplines, supporting the wider team in resolving complex technical challenges.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Experience leading engineering teams on complex defence programmes.
- Strong understanding of systems concepts, interfaces, requirements and the management of complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent planning, communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience delivering programme objectives across cost, schedule and quality targets.
- Experience supporting the technical aspects of bids, proposals and business development activities.
- Good understanding of requirements engineering principles, including requirements elicitation, management and validation.
- Experience using requirements management tools, such as DOORS.
- The ability to quickly develop an understanding of adjacent engineering disciplines to support programme delivery and technical decision-making.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience within maritime or submarine programmes.
- Software engineering background.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Knowledge of MODAF or DODAF architectural frameworks.
- Experience using System Architect, Rhapsody or similar engineering tools.
- Understanding of related engineering disciplines such as Safety, EMC and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
