Job Description:
As the Specialist, Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for hardware and software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation of technical products and systems. You will also be responsible for Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities for a Systems Engineering team across a business area that focuses on Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) programs for our US warfighters, conducting component trade studies, and performing system integration.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions:
• Work in a collaborative environment with internal company teams along with industry partners to accomplish customer goals
• Assist in architecting, developing, and testing of radar hw and sw solutions
• Integrate hw/sw implementations of Open System Architectures
• Creation of MBSE artifacts for complex hardware/software systems
• Creation of modeling of system interfaces, system context models, and metadata tagging that adhere to government standards
• Creation of modeling of systems in accordance with government style guides
• Ability to adhere to digital engineering standards and specifications
• Synthesis of complex systems designs in MBSE tool
• Preparation of MBSE artifacts for internal and external program meetings, including the tracing of requirements through design and test, generating a requirement use case matrix from the model, and the tracing of dependencies in the model
• Creation of white box and black box models
• Implementation of configuration control of MBSE artifacts
• Implementation of digital engineering best practices
• Help perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects
• Execute system integration and engineering test efforts
• Develops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies.
• Responsible for improving upon existing Systems Engineering processes
• System design synthesis of complex electronic systems to include processes and interfaces in testing
• Perform trade studies on a variety of systems and components
• Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground and flight test
• Analyze data from design verification test efforts
• Develop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments
• Present results during internal and external program meetings
• Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
• Up to 10% travel may be required
• Other duties as required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Active DoD clearance with current 5-year update
• Minimum 3 years System level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options
• Minimum 3 years hands on experience being involved in system integration, engineering testing, and system performance characterization
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Previous experience with unmanned air vehicles and/or guided weapon systems
• Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
• Experience working with ICDs, RVTMs, RCCAs, Military Standards
• Experience with the acquisition life cycle including preparing MBSE artifacts for reviews and working groups
• Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, specifically Jira and Confluence
• Experience with requirements management with DOORs or JAMA
• Expertise with MOSA, WOSA, FACE, or UAI
• PIL/HIL/SIL integration
• Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
