Job Description:
As a Specialist, Software Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced unmanned air systems (UAS / UAV). As a key systems integration software architect, you will develop and integrate software for complex unmanned systems. Additionally, you will also be responsible for performing software system troubleshooting and characterizing the software’s system performance.
The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.
Essential Functions:
- Architect and develop software solutions for unmanned vehicles.
- Integrate software solutions into unmanned vehicles.
- Assist with the testing and troubleshooting of software issues in unmanned vehicles.
- Define and decompose software and software-hardware integration requirements for unmanned vehicles.
- Embrace agile software development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environment.
- Thrive as a software developer using Open System Architectures.
- Manage and perform system engineering integration activities on new designs, updates, and changes.
- Develop integration & verification plans and procedures.
- Coordinate integration testing to verify system operation.
- Coordinate with Test Engineers to ensure proper execution of tests.
- Leads and addresses technical issues that arise during production and implements solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and training.
- Elevates issues to IPTL when unable to resolve.
- Help perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex software projects.
- Present results during internal program meetings.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience navigating and understanding code written in C, C++, and C#.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PS.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on exposure to Agile development methodology and tools:
- Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience creating sequence and flow diagrams with complex interdependencies.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in software systems architecture and design.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on distilling customer wants to software system requirements.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on working with a variety of engineers -- systems, electrical, software, mechanical.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with embedded software and embedded systems engineering including understanding of SWAP-C limitations.
- Minimum 3 years systems engineering experience in the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test, verification & validation, fielding, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Minimum 3 years Software CM experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering tools.
- Experience with DevSecOps pipeline.
- Experience with Matlab and LabView.
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products.
- Experience integrating software into air vehicles.
- Experience with requirements management.
- Experience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
