Job Description:

As Systems Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for hardware and software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation of technical products and systems.  You will also be responsible for conducting component trade studies, performing system integration, and characterizing system performance. Approximately 10% of your time will be spent as a front-line, functional manager responsible for staffing, resource allocation, performance assessment, and staff career development.

The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for requirements definition, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems embracing agile product systems and software development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality; Leads the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test and verification & validation in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environment
  • Develop, track and present technical performance metrics
  • Develop, coach, and motivate systems engineers to peak performance
  • Manage systems engineering resources to meet program needs through allocation of available personnel or hiring new personnel
  • Manage a group of Systems Engineering staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, planning and training employees.  Coach, counseling, monitor, and appraise staff performance.
  • Help perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects
  • Lead system integration and engineering test efforts
  • Develops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies.
  • Responsible for improving upon existing Systems Engineering processes
  • System design synthesis of complex electronic systems to include processes and interfaces in testing
  • Perform trade studies on a variety of systems and components
  • Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground and flight test
  • Analyze data from design verification test efforts
  • Develop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments
  • Present results during internal and external program meetings
  • Participate in proposal activities both cost and technical
  • Obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
  • Lifting up to 20 lbs
  • Up to 10% travel
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • System level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options
  • Hands-on experience being involved in system integration, engineering testing, and system performance characterization

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
  • Experience integrating typical payloads like sensors or communications into air vehicles
  • Systems Engineering functional management experience
  • Experience leading a team to complete assigned program tasking
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with Matlab, LabView, Python, or C/C++/C#
  • Experience in Control Account Management as part of an Earned Value Management System
  • Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems
  • Experience with proposal development including generating basis of estimates
  • Experience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations
  • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
