Job Description:
As the Senior Specialist, Systems Integration Engineer in Ashburn, you will be responsible for providing guidance to other employees and, as an individual contributor, executing hardware and software system integration, system characterization and troubleshooting, and verification and validation of complex systems.
Essential Functions:
- Individually contributes to hands-on system integration and testing activities for a complex hardware/software system.
- Learn and contribute during design-develop-build-integration|test-verification|validation cycles.
- Perform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground, and flight test.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and develop mitigation strategies for complex system issues.
- Fabricate parts, tools.
- Collaborates across fast-paced multidisciplinary (mechanical, electrical, specialty engineering) team.
- Run simulation and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environments.
- Analyze data from design verification test efforts.
- Track and present technical performance results.
- Author or update test plan/procedures, non-conformance reports, requirements, and other system engineering CDRLs.
- Contributes to trade studies.
- Uses Agile PDM, Sunflower, Windchill.
- Ability to maintain DoD security clearances as required.
- Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems.
- System level experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options.
- Hands-on system integration experience, cross-discipline engineering, verification and validation testing, and system performance characterization.
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products.
- Experience integrating typical payloads like sensors or communications into air vehicles.
- Experience in development of use cases and requirements developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations.
- Excellent people skills with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
