Job Description:
The Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer is an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area. Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area. Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Identifies and addresses changes within own job area. Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results. Work consists of making basic adjustments to systems and processes to solve problems. Identifies, defines, and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Generation of functional block diagrams, use-case diagrams, cabling diagrams, etc.
- Generation of Engineering Change Orders
- Conduct of trade studies
- Generation of requirements specifications
- Support digital engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Interfacing with the other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, etc.) to insure proper coordination of the systems aspects of the project.
- Integration and test planning, including generation of plans and procedures.
- Creation and presentation of design review materials
- Verification of system interfaces
- Must have the ability to travel.
- Work to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices, and approaches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
- 5+ years of direct Engineering experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Direct experience working with at least one of the following technologies: Underwater Acoustics, Telemetry, Communications, Data Recording systems, and/or Radar.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, drive, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with DOORS requirements management software
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $102k -$190k. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
