Job Description: 

The Sr. Specialist, Production Planner will have a critical role in ensuring that all programs are properly planned and scheduled across their entire lifecycle, taking into account constraints and capacity across a long horizon, and creating and maintaining the site master production schedule. The primary responsibility will be to ensure each individual program has a top-level schedule in the MRP system, one that is capacity tested, and working with production planning on flowing down all lower-level schedules according to the aggregated master schedule across all manufacturing lines, work cells, and labs at the site. This role will also be responsible for all re-scheduling activity in MRP and ensuring short-term production activity and rates are aligned to the overall schedule. As the Sr. Specialist, Production Planner, you’ll be required to collaborate effectively with the production planning, SIOP/demand planning, and program management teams to ensure schedules align to customer requirements, capacity plans and inputs are valid, and that the production plans and work order management are aligned to each schedule. You will be an integral part of the site’s supply planning activity and reviews, assisting in constraining the demand plan and ensuring dates in MRP reflect actual performance and plans. Your metrics will include master schedule attainment, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery, along with being heavily involved in the proper execution of the SIOP reviews and cadence. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Create and maintain the site master production schedule that includes all programs and product lines 
  • Use capacity information (Equipment and labor) to overlay onto master schedules across a short and long-term horizon to effectively plan the manufacturing facilities 
  • Ensure all dates and schedules are loaded and maintained in the MRP system  
  • Works with production planning on flowing down all lover-level requirements and plans and ensuring the work order strategy supports the schedule 
  • Collaborate with the program management team to ensure the program schedule is aligned to the master production schedule  
  • Provided schedule updates, plans, and concerns in the SIOP reviews and adjust when needed 
  • Provides baseline schedules and recommendations for all bid and proposal activity, to include new demand and follow-on awards 
  • Partners with manufacturing engineering on all capacity planning inputs (Routers, work centers, labor hours, etc.)  
  • Attends GEMBAS, production meetings, and material reviews to assess current performance against plan to maintain schedule validity  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of degree, 10 years of prior related   
  • Minimum 4+ years in operations/manufacturing environment as a Sr. Specialist, Production Planner, or shop floor lead 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of scheduling processes, reports, tools, and metrics 
  • Experience collaborating with Program Management, Manufacturing, Production Planning, and Demand Planning in a matrixed environment 
  • Proficiency in utilizing MRP systems and related planning tools 
  • Ability to present data and plans to a program team 
  • Demonstrated expertise in master scheduling, capacity planning, production planning, and inventory management 
  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative. 
  • Ability to lead and influence others, driving alignment and consensus. 
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement. 
  • CPIM certification a plus 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $79,000- $147,000.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
