Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to serve as a technical problem-solving expert, developing techniques, tools, and procedures to address quality issues in a facility focused on Design and Development. This role will act as a coach and expert for Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) teams and will be a key resource for continuous improvement efforts.
The successful candidate will identify and deploy Lean Sigma strategies, roadmaps, and projects within a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume D&D environment. They will drive significant improvements in processes, systems, and products to achieve business financial and operational goals. Strong interpersonal skills, change management experience, and a hands-on approach are essential for leading and facilitating improvement projects and events across all organizational levels.
Essential Functions:
- Quality System Development: Develop, implement, and maintain command media that aligns with AS9100D, NADCAP, and ISO17025 requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality system requirements into business processes.
- Audit Management: Manage the internal audit schedule, ensuring timely and compliant audits.
- Improvement Projects: Plan, assist, and/or conduct various Lean Sigma, APQP, and Kaizen events across the organization's value streams to drive positive improvements and results.
- RCCA Expertise: Act as the RCCA Subject Matter Expert (SME) at the site, coaching teams working on Corrective Action Requests (CARs) or other quality issues.
- Problem Solving: Provide thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems using statistical, problem-solving, and change management techniques.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of related experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years utilizing formal problem-solving techniques in electro-mechanical/aerospace projects.
- Command Media Development: Minimum of 3 years developing command media (e.g., SOPs, processes, procedures).
- Certification: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Technical Training: Extensive experience in developing and delivering technical training.
- Data Analysis: Extensive experience in data analysis.
- Standards Familiarity: Working familiarity with AS9100, ISO9001, J-STD Workmanship, ANSI J-Standards (Class 3), and IPC Workmanship Standards (Class 3).
- Technical Writing: Experience in technical writing.
- Quality Planning: Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and/or Zero Defect Planning.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $94,000-$175,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $85,500-$153,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
