Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, the Quality Engineer Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, methods, instructions, and quality plans for assigned programs. This role provides technical direction to inspection personnel, performs quality metric calculations, and conducts internal and process audits. The Quality Engineer Specialist represents Quality Assurance as a member of CAB, MRB, CCB, and FRB teams, including supporting the implementation of corrective actions. In addition, this position supports engineering, manufacturing, program management, and quality organizations by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

• Review customer Purchase Order and Contract requirements to communicate quality requirements to responsible departments.
• Perform internal and process audits, as assigned.
• Zero Defect Planning (ZDP) and leadership
• Data collection, data analysis, and data reporting, as assigned
• Provide technical direction and support to inspection.
• Review and approve drawings and product build (work orders) documentation.
• Review product discrepancies in manufacturing, perform investigations and coordinate with manufacturing and engineering to resolve problems.
• Represent Quality Assurance as a member of the CAB, CCB, MRB and FRB.
• Write/revise internal procedures and instructions, as assigned.
• Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent recurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
• Document, track and communicate Quality Plans, test results, analysis & unresolved problems.
• Represent Quality Assurance for interface with customer, supplier and government related issues (i.e., certifications, data, Corrective Acton, etc.).
• Perform supplier surveys, as assigned.
• Review supplier purchase requisitions and apply appropriate quality requirements.
• Participate on Lean and Continuous Improvement projects.
• Support assigned Quality Assurance tasks, as required.
• Must be logical and have the ability to communicate well both written and verbally.
• Utilize practical knowledge of project management to accomplish job duties.
• Ability to obtain US Secret Clearance

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
• Proficient knowledge of the job area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or Graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Familiarity with the military/defense contracting environment.

 In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $84,000- $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
