Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team dedicated to designing and developing high performance mechanical systems to address suspension and release systems on state of the art airborne platforms. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design, prototype, and produce the next generation solutions to meet next generation platform requirements. Your expertise will help transform requirements into innovative and reliable design solutions that exceed customer expectations.
Tactical Airborne Systems (TAS) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced suspension and release systems, airborne telemetry solutions, antenna apertures, and displays that support military and commercial aircraft, missiles and munitions.
Essential Functions:
- Provide creative and innovative design solutions that meet product requirements for high performance, high pressure pneumatic mechanisms/systems.
- Work closely with a broad team from engineering and operations to collaborate on effective solutions to design challenges.
- Support conceptual and detail design processes by using your background in CAD design and drawings.
- Provide support to structural and thermal analysis tasks including first order hand calculations and FEA.
- Present data in design review settings (e.g. PDR, CDR), both internal and external.
- Provide strong contributions to the overall product design dialogue from inception to production.
- Provide hands-on support during development, integration and test activities.
- This role requires your presence on-site in Amityville, New York.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Requires ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance
- 1+ years professional CAD design experience, including part, and assembly-level modeling in a mechanical design software such as Creo, NX, Catia, SolidWorks, or SolidEdge
- 1+ years of CAD drafting skills with the ability to interpret and create 2D drawings
- Professional experience with structural analysis methods using hand calculations
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
- Experience with Creo 3D CAD modeling
- Strong mechanical skills including experience with fabrication and integration of mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing methods including machining, composite lamination, sheet metal fabrication, and/or 3D printing
- Experience in mechanical, thermal, aero, and/or kinematic analysis using Ansys Workbench or equivalent software
- Technical leadership of small teams
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $75,000.00 - $139,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
