Job Description:

 

Experienced inspector for OEM of release system products for the military sector at our Amityville, NY location. This role will handle in-process inspections, electrical testing and be responsible for final electrical test results. This role will eventually progress into handling the inductions of fail-returns.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Support day-to-day in process testing, troubleshooting and inspections.
  • Visually inspect in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units for compliance to test, drawings and work instruction
  • Accept, reject, defective or parts, sub-assemblies, and malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from blueprints, ATPs, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists, and tools.
  • Take on additional assignments with increased scope and difficulty to support production including expanding level of testing and troubleshooting.
  • Process induction for fielded return units.
     

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience with regards to performing inspection of product for workmanship, dimensions and overall conformance to applicable drawings/specs.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, ATPs and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiar with processing and handling of nonconforming material.
  • Proficient with first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Familiar with AS9100/ISO9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Proficient with testing Electro-Mechanical Assemblies
  • Familiarity with industry specs/standards as it relates to materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., ASTM, ASE, MIL specs, etc.) is a plus.
  • Security Clearance required for role:  Clearance Not Required

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

•  Perform Receiving Inspection, In-process Inspection, and Final Inspection functions
• Use various measuring devices.
• 4+ years performing mechanical measurements, using various measuring instruments GD&T methodology.
• 4+ years performing simple surface plate set-ups, micrometers, height gages, optical comparators, etc.
• Desire to learn how to perform heavy mechanical inspection which encompasses the use of coordinate measurement equipment (CMM, Faro arm, etc.), performing tooling/gauging verification, and using other complex measurement techniques and methods.

• Ability to perform electronic and/or hybrid inspection and test of complex electrical assemblies, components and systems.
• Able to describe nonconformance situations and assist in the cause and resolution.
• Able to review reworked and repaired items for acceptance.
• Must have reasonably good manual dexterity
• Proficient with reading blueprints, and schematics
• Basic Computer Skills

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $55,500 - $102,500 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
